19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a torrid year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

His defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent saved four initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
